"Don't you ever wish there was an escape to the pressures of life?  I mean, I can't stand my brother.  I want him to go away and leave me in peace." Emil said staring at the stars.  

You looked at your best friend of 9 years questioningly.  This was your reunion with him, you haven't seen him in a couple of months and ever since you moved away, his faith and happiness just went down hill.  

"Well I'm sure you don't mean that, Ice.." you said punching him lightly on the arm.  He looked over at you, his icy blue eyes gazing deeply into yours.  You gave him a half smile and he shut his eyes.  

"______, I don't think you understand what it's like to have an alcoholic brother who beats you every night until he finally draws blood.  And ever since Lukas left.." his words drew short and he inhaled deeply, "Ever since you left..  My life has just gone to hell."

You looked at him shocked; you never knew Matthias beat Emil senseless..  Or that Lukas just left him to fend for himself.  You wanted to cry and hug him all night.  You looked away and let one tear fall to the ground, it was so quite you could actually hear it hit the ground.  

You felt a soft hand being placed on your shoulder.  You turned around and saw a half smile upon Emil's face.  He did have quite a lovely face; his eyes were as blue as crystals and his hair as white a snow.  You loved it when he smiled; it graced his face so perfectly.  

"It's okay, ______, I'm fine.  Really, I am."  

"No you're not Ice.  You aren't fine at all." You began to tear up again, "I can't stand seeing you like this!  I'm so sorry I left you..  I didn't have a choice, it was either that, or lose my stupid job..  But if I could go back through time, if I could take it all back, I would have never left you."  Emil drew you in for a long hug and he stroked the back of your head for comfort while you cried in his shoulder.

"I feel so stupid." You muffled in his shoulder.

"Why is that?" he asked softly, stroking your (h/l, h/c) hair.  

"I shouldn't be crying, I'm not the one whose being beat or stabbed in the back by their best friend..  But would it be weird if I could almost feel your pain?  I mean, granted, I never lost my brother or have been beaten, but it's as if I can feel your sadness.." you choked on the last word and continued sobbing.

Emil chuckled and held you tighter.  "It's not strange at all, I mean, what are best friends for anyways, eh?"  You giggled along with him and wiped your tears away.  He smiled at you and wiped away another tear with his thumb.  

"Run away with me." He said.  You looked at him, confused and shocked all at once.  

"Wh-What?" you stammered.  He laughed, leaning in closer and whispering, "Just you and me, ______.  Come with me and run away, like old times."  Your eyes widened and your mouth fell open.  'Was he really asking me to run away with him?  This isn't real.  No, he's just saying that..' you thought.

He pulled away and looked back up at the stars.  HE closed his eyes and chuckled, "You remember when we made plans like that in middle school because you hated your parents for taking away your phone and, well, now you know my reasons.. hah.." he laughed a little and continued, "Well, let's make it happen!  Just me and you." He said excitedly moving closer to you.  You blushed at the thought of running away with Emil, he and you together, forever, like you planned.  You really did love Emil, but is there more than just friendly love?  Were you actually willing to run away and risk it all, just to be with your best friend, the guy you have always and still love, to this day?  

Emil sensed your insecurity about the situation; he cupped your cheeks and drew his lips to yours with a powerful embrace.  His lips were so soft, yet, they were slightly cool from the night air.  Both your mouths moved with such grace, all of your doubts melted away.  You felt like floating as he moved his lips with yours.  

He licked your bottom lip, asking politely for entrance.  You gave him access, allowing his tongue to familiarize itself with yours.  He placed one hand on your head and the other on your waist drew you closer to where you could feel his body heat.

"E-Emil.." you whispered, pulling away.  He looked at you with hazy eyes.  

"______, can I just say something that I was too scared to tell you for so many years?" you nodded and he continued, "I love you.  I always have and always will, even when you're on your period, or when you wear your baggy clothes that you thought hid you from the world.  I loved you then and I love you now."  You were paralyzed; eyes wide and a deep blush that spread from cheek to cheek.  Finally you choked, "I-I love you too Emil…"

He smiled and pecked your cheek lightly.

"______, please, run away with me.  We can move away together, anywhere we want.  I know you hate your job and I hate my brothers, so why not?  Let's do it, pack your bags and leave with me."

After a long pause of silence, a smile slowly spread from ear to ear upon your face and you asked, "Will you be there for me every step of the way, always and forever?" you asked.  Emil smiled and kissed your nose.

"Forever." He whispered.
